SpellText is a royalty-free ActiveX control that can be used in Visual Basic, Visual C++, Microsoft Access, on a web page, or any other environment capable of using ActiveX controls. It provides all of the functionality of a standard single line or multi-line text box, along with advanced spell checking. The control has a built-in dictionary of 112,000 words, squeezed into a control that is 800K in size. It is very fast, capable of checking over 8000 characters in one second on a Pentium 150.
Full spell-checking functionality is provided, including unlimited custom dictionaries, automatic or manual handling of spelling errors, Ignore, Ignore All, Change, Change All, and building a list of suggestions for misspelled words. New to version 2.0 is as-you-type, or "passive" spell checking. With this option, any misspelled words are flagged by a wavy colored line, drawn directly under the word. A pop-up menu, activated by the right mouse button, provides a list of suggestions, as well as the ability to ignore a word or add it to a custom dictionary.
A sample application written in Visual Basic 6.0 is provided with the control.
Detailed directions for using SpellText in a web page, as well as a working example, are located at our web page. A .CAB file containing the control in a ready-to-download format is included with each copy of SpellText. Please do not reference the .CAB file on our web server in your pages - reference a copy located on your own server.
